iwl.com is a fun little tool to muck around with, especially for us book bloggers and aspiring writers, but I wanted to put the website to the test. Does it know what it’s actually talking about?

I once tried the thing on a piece of creative writing and depending on the sentence it came back as either William Gibson, Marcel Proust or JRR Tolkien. Three different writers of vastly different genres.

So… what I did next was I entered the sample text from my Teaser Tuesday meme, and guess what it said…

I write like
Charles Dickens

I Write Like by Mémoires, Mac journal software. Analyze your writing!

… the silly thing only went and told be that it was a bit of Dickens! Lesson here is, don’t take what it says too seriously. But it would be a cool idea if it actually worked.
